Blueprints Conference Details
Welcome back, TEDx-ers!
With March 5th less than a month away, our Blueprints Conference is getting closer and closer. There are so many exciting things we can’t wait to show you, but for now we’ll settle for telling you about what you can expect on conference day.
Beginning February 7th, tickets can be purchased online through our eventbrite or website. General admission tickets are $65 and student tickets are $35. Included in your purchase, you’ll receive a TEDxUTAustin Blueprints t-shirt, stickers, brochures, name tag, and lunch.
Provided by the AT&T Conference Center, your lunch is included in your ticket purchase. On conference day, you will have some delicious sandwich options. We will offer a turkey on kaiser roll with dill Havarti cheese, romaine, shaved onion, and sun-dried tomato mayonnaise and a grilled veggie wrap with vegan cheese, red pepper hummus, and baby greens as a vegetarian option. Both of these will include a small bottled water, bag of chips, and a cookie.
This conference will have a wide variety of audience members and it’s an incredible way to network with fellow students, community members, and guests. To make it easier for you to find these opportunities, name tags will include if you’re a student or your occupation. They will also have a spot saying “ask me about…” and we encourage you to write something you’re passionate about or working towards so you can find like-minded or interested people. Networking can be intimidating, but TEDxUTAustin hopes to foster a welcoming environment for all ideas and passions here at Blueprints.
Another great way to connect, our university showcase will offer a variety of student organizations, initiatives, and startups. You’ll get to check out some awesome projects they’ve been working on and find organizations that share your passions, interests, and aspirations. The showcase will run before the conference, 8:30-9:45, and during the lunch break.
But Blueprints won’t be all business. We’re thrilled to have two performances during our conference: One Note Stand and a dance group from the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas. The dance group is choreographed and directed by Jenna Weatherbie, who is also an officer in Dance Action, an organization on campus. One Note Stand is a competitive coed a cappella group here at the University of Texas that was founded in 2009. The group has competed and performed at a variety of events across the state like the National Robotics Competition Finals at Minute Maid Park with over 20,000 people and the annual UT Acapalooza, a benefit concert that they lead and organize.
With speakers ranging from innovative researchers to students advocating for change, TEDxUTAustin is proud to give you a live TED Talk experience you won’t forget. Our speakers will share how they’ve drawn their own Blueprints, broken out of other ones, and learned to share these ideas with others like you.
We hope this opportunity will prompt you to draft your own Blueprints and be the change in your own life. For more information about our speaker lineup, check out our previous blog post!
